Andrea Nixon is a Western Canadian Country music singer-songwriter that brings energy and passion
to the stage and a powerful sense of reflection, imagination and emotionally authenticity to her
songwriting. Hot on the heels of her debut single You Didn’t Make Me, Andrea is
releasing a brand new single “Innerglow”, and a full album entitled Diary of a Housewife in 2016.
Andrea has collaborated with some of Edmonton’s best musicians to form her touring band ‘Andrea
Nixon and the Prairie Son’. They are currently performing across the province with plans for a national
tour in 2017. Andrea’s debut music video for You Didn’t Make Me was nominated for ‘Music Video of
the Year’ at the Edmonton Music Awards, which took place in June, 2015.
Andrea writes lyrics that evoke strong imagery and familiar scenarios depicted in a new light, always
bound by a strong message. She is motivated to write and perform by a strong conviction to speak her
truth and connect to others in both joys and sorrows. Though she is proud to have been compared to
such country legends as Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton, she has spent the last few years finding her own
voice and honing the particular perspective she would like to add to the world of country music. A few years ago, after nearly a decade of penning songs at her dining room table, Andrea began working with
the incomparable Singer-Songwriter/Producer/Guitarist Bobby Cameron to prepare her original
material for release. She is extremely proud of the album set to drop in late 2016.
In January 2015, Andrea independently released her first commercial single You Didn’t Make Me,
which received radio airtime throughout Alberta and into Ontario. Andrea also shared her personal
story on air as part of the ‘Made in Canada’ program on The One FM in Alberta. “Innerglow” has been
well recieved at Canadian Country Radio with radio adds across the country. Andrea is currently
travelling across Alberta doing a radio tour in support of the song. In conjunction with her radio tour,
Andrea is actively campaigning to bring awareness and funds for frontline organizations in the field of
domestic violence in support of November’s Family Violence Prevention Month through radio
promotion, special events and school visits in the communities she is traveling to.
